Career Women

In modern world, women have the benefit from the wider chance of getting a career outside their household sphere. Many women, however, have some difficulties deciding whether they will pursue a career or not. Some of them stay at their offices, while at the same time they act as a housewives. But, the others choose to concentrate their attention to their household only.

Being career women offers the advantage of a wider chance of self-actualisation. They can widen their knowledge and develop their capacity. For example, many women do not know exactly what is their talent before they start a career. But then, after they have a career they know which field they can do best and which one day cannot. This will help them to refocus their life goal.

Another big advantage is that they can help supporting their household’s finance so that men do not become the single fighter in financing their families. For example, if a wife works, she can help her husband financing their children’s educational budget, so that their children can have the best education.

Being career women, on the other hand, has some significant disadvantage, too. They have more burdens in their life, as they have to manage their job as well as their household. For example, a female teacher has to prepare teaching material for tomorrow class while at the same time she has to think about how to handle her naughty son.

In addition, being career women can be risky for their household. For example, many women have to spend their time more in their career as it grows more challenging, so they have only limited time left for their family, resulting in their lack of care and attention for their husband and children. The extreme impact of this situation is the broken home.

In the end, the decision that each women makes will depend on their own personal values, as well as their readiness for taking on the considerable consequences of each choice.

Dalam dunia modern, wanita mendapatkan keuntungan dari kesempatan yang lebih luas untuk mendapatkan karir di luar lingkup rumah tangga mereka. Menjadi wanita karier, di sisi lain, memiliki beberapa kelemahan yang signifikan juga. Mereka memiliki lebih banyak beban dalam hidup mereka. Misalnya, seorang guru wanita harus mempersiapkan bahan ajar untuk kelas besok sementara pada saat yang bersamaan ia harus memikirkan tentang bagaimana menangani anaknya yang nakal.

Selain itu, menjadi wanita karier dapat berisiko bagi rumah tangga mereka. Sebagai contoh, banyak wanita harus menghabiskan waktu mereka lebih dalam karier mereka seperti menumbuhkan lebih banyak  tantangan, sehingga mereka hanya memiliki sisa waktu yang terbatas untuk keluarga mereka, sehingga kurangnya kepedulian dan perhatian untuk suami dan anak-anak. Dampak yang ekstrim dari situasi ini adalah keluarga yang berantakkan.

Pada akhirnya, keputusan yang setiap wanita  buat akan tergantung pada nilai-nilai pribadi mereka sendiri, serta kesiapan mereka untuk mengambil konsekuensi besar pada setiap pilihan.

Buruh PT Sanyo Menang

TEMPO Interaktif, Bekasi: Akhirnya perjuangan buruh PT Sanyo Indonesia menuai kemenangan. Hari ini, pengusaha menyatakan dengan sukarela mencabut kembali keputusan skors yang dijatuhkan kepada tiga pengurus inti Serikat Pekerja.

Keputusan pencabutan ini diumumkan di ruang pertemuan pabrik dengan disaksikan Iim Pengawas Dinas Tenaga Kerja Kabupaten Bekasi. "Kami sudah masuk kembali per jam 9 tadi karena skorsing dicabut," kata Ramadhan, Sekretaris Serikat Pekerja, satu dari tiga korban.

Tadi pagi, rencananya buruh kembali ke Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Daerah Kabupaten Bekasi untuk menghadiri pertemuan dengan Komisi D yang juga mengundang PT Sanyo. Pertemuan segitiga itu urung, karena PT Sanyo memanggil Serikat Pekerja yang semula berkumpul di depan kawasan pabrik East Jakarta Industrial Park, Cikarang.

Keputusan PT Sanyo, kata Ramadhan, sangat tidak disangka sebelumnya. "Buruh diminta melupakan yang telah lalu dan belajar dari kondisi seperti ini," kata Ramadhan, buruh bagian Manajamen Sistem yang diskorsing sejak 5 Agustus.

Buruh juga diminta bekerja lebih baik lagi dan dapat bekerja sama dengan perusahaan seperti semula. Dalam pertemuan tertutup itu, kata Ramadhan, PT Sanyo menyadari terjadi kesalahpahaman.

"Dengan bahasa-bahasa diplomatis gitu. Tapi, yang jelas sekarang kami sudah bekerja kembali," ujarnya.

Keputusan ini disambut gembira buruh lainnya yang sejak Rabu (6/9) mogok kerja. Ismail, buruh Divisi Kompresor mengungkapkan, buruh kini telah kembali bekerja lagi di bagian masing-masing.

"Aksi hari ini sudah selesai. Kami senang. Tapi, kalau nanti pengusaha tetap merugikan kami, kami akan kembali demo lebih besar," kata dia.

Kemenangan buruh ini, kata Ismail, merupakan kemenangan perjuangan serikat pekerja seluruh Indonesia terhadap pengusaha yang sepihak. "Tidak boleh lagi ada tekanan dan intimidasi," kata dia.

Analisis

Dilihat dari sudut pandang buruh, buruh merupakan asset paling penting perusahaan, perlakuan tidak menyenangkan dari perusahaan terhadap buruh menyebabkan buruh memberikan tuntutan-tuntutan atas perbaikan nasib dan kesejahteraan mereka, sehingga yang menjadi jalan satu-satunya adalah turun ke jalan dengan melakukan demonstrasi, padahal setiap kali para buruh demonstrasi semakin banyak pihak yang dirugikan.

Dilihat dari sudut pandang pengusaha, pengusaha merupakan salah satu pihak yang paling dirugikan dari adanya demonstrasi buruh, karena proses produksi yang biasanya berlangsung setiap hari menjadi tersendat dikarenakan tuntutan yang belum terpenuhi. Selain itu keberhasilan perusahaan untuk bersaing dalam bisnis diperlukan para pekerja dengan kualitas tinggi.   

Dilihat dari sudut pandang pemerintah, pemerintah memiliki wewenang untuk menyelesaikan kasus antara pengusaha dengan pekerjanya, agar tidak terjadi perselisihan yang menimbulkan banyak kerugian bagi berbagai pihak. Kewajiban pemerintah menjamin keamanan dan kepastian hukum, baik bagi pengusaha/investor maupun buruh. Salah satu bentuk proteksi pemerintah adalah jaminan keamanan bagi investor asing dan investasinya dari kerugian yang ditimbulkan akibat demonstrasi buruh. Karena demonstrasi buruh, apalagi yang anarkistis, merugikan investor dan pada gilirannya juga merugikan buruh itu sendiri.
